Ladybug Birthday Party

We put together a Cute  "Ladybug Picnic" for our daughter's 3rd birthday.
We thought we'd share a few pictures with you.

Happy Birthday to our Lil' Ladybug.

(Banner made with Cardstock, Ribbon, and Glue. Shapes cut out with our Cricut Machine)

The Main food table. See below for close-up pictures.

In photo above: Ladybug Oreos, Chips, Ants & Ladybugs on logs, Veggie Tray, Pretzels, Red/Black Twizzlers, and Ladybug Crackers.

Ladybug Oreo Cookies

(These are made by dipping Oreos in Red Candy Melts and then "painted" with black decorator gel.)

Ants and Ladybug on logs with cheese and crackers.
  • Ant on a log - Celery Filled with Cream Cheese and topped with raisins.
  • Ladybugs on a log - Celery Filled with Cream Cheese and topped with Craisins.

There is a whole tray of these in the top picture on the right.
Ladybug Crackers
  • Crackers topped with cream cheese, quartered tomatoes (using 2 pieces), 1/2 an olive for the head, and Chive sprigs for the Antenna. The black dots can be made by mixing together black food coloring and sour cream, but I already had the black decorator gel, so we just used that. They still tasted yummy! (You can add herbs to the cream cheese to add some flavor but since this was for little kids I wanted to make them simple.)

More Food.

We had Crescent Rolls, Salad, and Baked Pasta w/ Marinara. Hearty picnic food.  :)

The Cake/Cupcakes.

This was my favorite piece to the party. It turned out great!

5" round cake and 24 cupcakes, 1/2 chocolate & 1/2 vanilla.
All were iced with the non-dairy whipped icing.

Decorations:
  • The Ladybug Cake topper was made with Red Candy Melts, which I poured onto wax paper in the shape of the ladybug. Once it set, I "painted" it with the black decorator gel.
  • The cupcake ladybugs were simply made with unmelted candy melts that were also painted with the decorator gel.
  • The cupcake leaves were made from green "Nips" candy. I used a pair of kitchen scissors and cut them into individual leaf shapes. Super easy and tasty too.

Here is a close-up of a cupcake.

And the Happy Birthday Girl!

We made a simple Ladybug Bean Bag toss game with some
cardboard, paint, and ladybug shaped bean bags.

And lastly, I found this super cute Ladybug Dress at the Goodwill for less than $10.
It went about 6 inches past my ankles.
A quick snip, snip with the scissors and a turn on my sewing machine and Viola!!
I turned it into a fabulous mini. :)

Hope you've enjoyed our post and maybe inspired you to make a ladybug party of your own. :)

Sewing/Craft Ideas

Have a bit of pre-shirred fabric, maybe an end of bolt piece or something too small to make a dress or top from? Here's an idea.... Make a cute apron! Just add bias tape all the way around (except for the top), add a loop to go over your head and two side, tie strips and voila!
